Foresters Claim the Crown After a Complete Performance on Farwell

Lake Forest claimed the Midwest Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon at Farwell Field, defeating Grinnell 4–0 behind a nearly flawless effort. After a slower start in the opening minutes, the Foresters settled in, began moving the ball with confidence, and steadily took control as the match progressed.

The breakthrough came in the 12th minute when Junior Nathan Kostovetsky finished off a crisp attacking sequence, giving the Foresters the spark they needed to fully settle into the match.

As play continued to tilt in Lake Forest's favor, the lead grew early in the second half. Junior Ollie Francis pushed the score to 2–0 in the 61st minute, capping another stretch of strong ball movement that opened up space around the box.

Relentless pressure eventually produced a third goal. With the Foresters controlling possession deep in Grinnell territory, Kostovetsky found his second of the afternoon in the 74th minute, strengthening Lake Forest's command of the match.

The finishing touch came with less than ten minutes to play. Freshman Vico Pozuelos, working confidently in the attacking third, slipped a sharp ball to Junior Peter Cirbo, who turned it into the Foresters' fourth goal and the final highlight of the championship performance.

Freshman Marceli Okonski recorded three saves to secure the shutout as Lake Forest limited Grinnell's opportunities through organized defending and consistent possession.

With the win, the Foresters not only captured the Midwest Conference Championship but also secured Coach Dan Andrews' 100th win for the program. The Foresters have secured a place in the 2025 NCAA National Tournament. They will learn their opponent during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday at 10:30.
