Foresters among More Than 1,500 Runners at Interregional Invitational

The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in Augustana College's Interregional Invitational at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, on Saturday.

There were three men's 8-kilometer races and the Foresters placed 28th in the Blue Division. They were led by sophomore Owen Lashenik, who completed the course in 27:48.2 and placed 123rd out of 412 runners. Sophomore Demos Manoukis was next on the team with a time of 29:04.6, followed by senior Patrick Cadiz in 29:57.7.

The team finished just four points behind Webster University and two ahead of Dominican University in the standings.

The Lake Forest women finished 17th in the Blue Division and were led by junior Lettia Hoda, who was 34th in the 309-runner field with a 6-kilometer time of 24:11.9. Classmate Sophie Graham's 25:03.0 was good for 78th place and sophomore Liya N'diaye completed the course in 26:47.5 to finish with exactly the same number of finishers (154) ahead of and behind her.

The Foresters had just one point more than the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and were 11 points ahead of Carroll University in the team rankings.

The meet was the last of the regular season for Lake Forest, which will travel to Mount Vernon, Iowa, for the Midwest Conference Championships on November 1 and return to the state for the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in Waverly two weeks later.
