The Lake Forest College men's golf team hosted the Forester Spring Invite at White Deer Run Golf Course in nearly Vernon Hills on Friday. The Foresters' top group tied for sixth place and the other finished 15th in the 17-team field.
The home team was led by junior
Chris Petri, who carded a 4-over 76 and tied for 11th out of 94 players overall. He started his round at the third tee, birdied 12 and 1, and was at even par over his final dozen holes.
Lake Forest sophomore
Evan Dybas tied for 20th with a career-best round of 78 and freshman
Tyler Schick tied for 23rd with a 79. Sophomore
Ben Shamberg finished with an 80 and senior
Tyler Nielsen an 81.
Aurora University won the event with a team score of 299, four strokes better than runner-up St. Norbert College. Wheaton College, Wisconsin Lutheran College, and Carthage College rounded out the top five and the Foresters tied with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for sixth at 316.
Lake Forest will compete in Wisconsin Lutheran's Morningstar Masters tomorrow afternoon at 1:30. The event will be held at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
