The Lake Forest College handball team was in Mankato, Minnesota, over the weekend competing in the Maverick Open.
Freshman
Emma Kinane was the most successful Forester at the event, reaching the Women's Open Singles and Doubles finals. She took both games 21-2 in the singles quarterfinals and 21-3 in the semifinals before falling 21-3, 21-10 in the championship match. Kinane teamed with sophomore
Audrey Peters in doubles and they also prevailed 21-2, 21-2 in the quarterfinals. After a 21-3, 21-8 victory in the semifinals, they were edged out 21-18, 17-21, 11-3 in the final.Â
Audrey Peters also reached the Open Singles quarterfinals before being eliminated.
Freshman Miles Ashby and sophomore
Arielle Augustyn competed in the Women's B Singles bracket. Ashby won both of her matches in one group and Augustyn took one of three in the other.
On the men's side, junior
Dylan Schmitt advanced to the quarterfinals in the Open Singles division and, along with senior
Collin Peters, came out on top of a 21-14, 19-21, 11-2 decision to reached the semifinals in Open Doubles.
Freshman
Ethan Trankolov posted a victory in the opening round of the Men's C Singles bracket and sophomores
Seth Jayaprabhu and
Ray Vo met in the division's consolation final with Jayaprabhu coming out on top 15-1, 15-4.
The Foresters will host singles invitational events the next two Saturdays with the women in action on February 10 and the men on February 17.
