The Lake Forest College handball team competed in the Milwaukee Classic over the weekend.
Highlighting the Foresters' performance at the tournament was a runner-up finish by freshman
Jodie Keeling in the Women's Open Division. Seeded third at the event, Keeling won 21-19, 21-9 in the quarterfinals before before knocking off Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame member Megan Dorneker 21-11, 21-13 in the semifinals. She eventually fell 21-10, 21-13 in the final.
Forester sophomore
Emma Kinane also competed in the Women's Open Division and came out on top 21-10, 12-21, 11-2 in the quarterfinals before being eliminated by the eventual champion in the semifinals.
Two Lake Forest players also prevailed in tiebreakers in the Women's B Division. Freshman
Satoe Tohi prevailed 21-13, 6-21, 11-10 in the round of 16 and junior
Arielle Augustyn 16-21, 21-11, 11-0 in the quarterfinals. Both players fell to the bracket's champion in their next matches.
Senior
Zach Dybal was the highest-seeded Forester on the men's side. He edged out his opponent 21-8, 17-21, 11-2 in the round of 16 before dropping his quarterfinal match to the division's winner.
FreshmanÂ
Luca Zenati-Parsons added yet another tiebreaker win for Lake Forest with his 15-1, 6-15, 11-9 triumph in the quarterfinals of the Men's C Consolation bracket. He added two more victories to claim the divisional title.
The tournament was the Foresters' last of 2024. The team will resume its season January 17-19 at the Illinois Handball Association State Singles Tournament.
