The Midwest Conference announced the 2024 All-MWC Football Teams and major award winners on Friday and Lake Forest College accounted for 17 of the honorees.
The Foresters' major award winners were MWC Offensive Skill MVP
A.J. Jackson, Offensive Line MVP
Ian Ramey, and Coach of the Year
Jim Catanzaro.
Jackson, who was also named First Team All-MWC as a running back and kick returner, is the leading scorer in the nation with 17.3 points per game. The graduate student is also tied for the national lead with 20 rushing touchdowns and ranks sixth with 165.89 all-purpose yards per contest. Jackson finished the regular season with 557 rushing yards on 80 carries, 693 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 36 catches, and 187 yards on 12 punt returns. He has amassed 6,450 all-purpose yards in 40 career games and is the NCAA Division III record holder with nine career punt return touchdowns and the Foresters' all-time leader with 70 touchdowns and 422 points. Jackson has now earned All-MWC honors at kick returner four times, wide receiver twice, and running back once.
Ramey is is now a four-time All-MWC selection and a First Team honoree in each of the last three years. The fifth-year has started every game at left tackle this fall and Lake Forest has already set a program single-season record with 35 rushing touchdowns. The Foresters are also averaging 42 points per game, which would be a school record, and their current rate of 416.6 total yards per contest would be the program's fifth-highest mark. Quarterbacks on the team have been sacked just 13 times all season.
Joining Ramey as First Team All-MWC selections on the offensive line are fellow fifth-year
Braxton Matteson and junior
Vinny Colasacco. Four of the unit's five starters were listed among the league's best as senior
Sean Brady earned Second Team All-MWC accolades. Matteson and Brady were second team selections last year and Matteson in 2022 as well.
Two members of the Forester defense, which allowed the fewest points (14.4) and yards (241) per game in the league, were also named First Team All-MWC on Friday. Graduate student
Jaylen Johnson ranks fourth in the conference with 6.5 sacks and eighth with 11.5 tackles for loss. He has made 34 tackles overall, raising his career total to 105. Johnson was a Second Team All-MWC honoree each of the last twp seasons. In his first year as a starter, sophomore linebacker
Blake Ware was second on the team with 57 tackles, including 5.0 tackles for loss, and added three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Of the Foresters' 10 Second Team All-MWC selections, four were part of Lake Forest's passing game. Senior quarterback
Joshua Gasca is on pace to set single-season school records with a completion percentage of 65.8 and a pass efficiency rating of 172.05. Those mark rank among the top three in the league, as do his 2,103 yards and 21 touchdown passes. Senior wide receivers

Langston Metoyer and tight end
Bode Rubright accounted for more than half of Gasca's passing yards and touchdowns. Land, who was also a second team honoree a year ago, ranks ninth in the league with 563 yards, tied-for-sixth with six touchdown catches, and third with 20.1 yards per reception. Metoyer is not far behind, amassing 450 yards at 16.1 yards per catch with four scores. Rubright currently has 11 receptions for exactly 100 yards and a touchdown.
There is also a Second Team All-MWC honoree at each level of the Lake Forest defense. Senior
Michael Kelley earned the award on the line, where he has made 38 tackles and recorded 4.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. Sophomore linebacker
Jackson Sander led the team with 59 tackles overall and added 5.0 tackles for loss and an interception. The list also includes both of the Foresters' starting safeties in junior
Thomas DeChesaro and fifth year
Trenton Brail. DeChesaro is third on the team with 54 tackles and only three players in the league have more than his three interceptions. Brail picked off a pair of passes, raising his career total to nine, and matched DeChesaro with a team-high four pass breakups. Brail is now a three-time All-MWC honoree.
Senior defensive back
Dominic Lewis was listed among the league's best for his work on special teams. He has made at least one tackle on a kickoff return in every game and 12 special teams tackles overall. In addition, he recovered a blocked punt and returned it 21 yards for a touchdown against Knox College on Homecoming and recovered a fumble to retain possession for the Foresters the next week at Lawrence.
Catanzaro was named MWC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career. His Foresters won all nine of their conference games by a combined score of 399-137 and have earned a bye in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs. Lake Forest ranks among the top 30 in the country in 17 different statistical categories and is one of just 11 undefeated teams in the nation.
