Lake Forest's Second Round Better that the First at Aurora Double Gun

The Forester men's golf team played two rounds on Tuesday at the Aurora University Double Gun. Lake Forest fielded a pair of teams with one tying for seventh and the other placing 11th in the 19-team field. The tournament was held on the 6,785-yard, par-72 course at Aurora Country Club.

Lake Forest's top team posted a score of 320 over the first 18 holes and 317 in the second. Junior Chris Petri led the squad and finished 13th out of 96 players overall with a two-round score of 154. He had five birdies on the day, including two on the 523-yard par-5 16th hole. Petri's 73 in round two was eight shots better than the score from his first 18 holes.

Sophomore Ben Shamberg had the team's best opening round with a 76 and finished with a 158. Junior Max Golding and freshman Tyler Schick came in at 161 and 164, respectively, and finished in the top half of the field.

Senior Ryan Higgins led the Foresters' second team with a 156, good for a tied-for-17th place finish overall. He posted pars on 21 of 36 holes and added a couple of birdies on the day. Freshman Alex Rohlf and senior Tyler Nielsen were next at 161 and 165, respectively.

Aurora University was the team champion with a final score of 599.

Next Monday and Tuesday's Carthage Fall Classic is next on the Foresters' schedule. The event will be held at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
