After posting rounds of 301 and 291 at the Midwest Region Classic on Friday and Saturday, the Forester men's golf team split the difference with a 296 to win Sunday's St. Norbert College Invitational.
Lake Forest had two of the top four individuals in the 31-player field in sophomore
Ben Shamberg and junior
Chris Petri. Shamberg had five birdies on the day and tied for first place with a 1-under 71 on the 6,697-yard Green Bay Country Club course. Petri's day included three birdies and he tied for third place with an even par round.
Junior
Luke Duffer, senior
Ryan Higgins, and freshman
Tyler Schick also placed in the top 10 with scores of 76, 77, and 79, respectively. Duffer and Schick matched Petri with three birdies apiece while Higgins played the final 11 holes in 1-under.
St. Norbert was the runner-up in the five-team field with a score of 300 and Wisconsin Lutheran College finished third at 316.
The Foresters will close out the fall portion of their 2023-24 schedule at the UW-Stout Fall Invitational next Sunday and Monday. The event will be played just across the state line at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
