The Lake Forest College men's golf team finished third at Saturday and Sunday's WLC Fall Invitational with a program record 36-hole score of 584.

The Foresters posted a 291 in Saturday's opening round and a 293 on Sunday to break the previous record set two weekends ago by two strokes. They finished the tournament just four shots behind team champion Carthage College, which edged out runner-up Luther College by one.

Lake Forest was led by freshman Tyler Schick and sophomore Ben Shamberg. Schick's 3-under 69 on Sunday matched the fifth-lowest score in school history and his two-round total of 142 ranks third in team annals. He tied for second place in the 69-player field while Shanberg was tied-for-fourth at 145, the sixth-best mark by a Forester. Shamberg shared the tournament lead with 10 birdies on the weekend while Schick had 8 and they were tied-for-first at the event at 2-under on the par-4s.

At 148 and 149, respectively, juniors Chris Petri and Luke Duffer were not far behind Lake Forest's top two players. Each of them carded a 75 on Sunday and placed among the top 20 overall.

Also finishing in the top half of the field were Forester senior Ryan Higgins at 154 and junior Max Golding at 155.

The next event on Lake Forest's schedule is next weekend's Midwest Region Classic. The two-day event will begin on Friday and take place at Brighton Dale LInks in Kansasville, Wisconsin.
