The Lake Forest College men's golf team followed up Monday's 306 with a 307 on Tuesday to place eighth at the 21-team Strawberry Creek Classic, which was hosted by Carthage College.

Sophomore Ben Shamberg led the Foresters and finished tied-for-30th overall with back-to-back rounds of 4-over 76. He was a shot better than junior Luke Duffer on Monday and they turned in the same score in round two. Duffer tied for 33rd in the 120-player field.

Shamberg's 152 and Duffer's 153 were followed up by junior Max Golding at 155, classmate Chris Petri at 156, and freshman Tyler Schick at 157. All three players placed in the top half of golfers in the event, which was held on the 6,876-yard, par-72 course at The Club of Strawberry Creek.

The Foresters' team total of 613 was 13 shots behind seventh-place Millikin University. Hope College was the team champion at 574.

Lake Forest will play in another two-day event, the WLC Fall Invitational, this weekend. Wisconsin Lutheran College will host the tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin.
