Box Score Freshman
Kristen Ahn captured a title at #3 singles and Foresters were the runners up at every other position in the lineup at the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament on Sunday.
Ahn was the top seed after going undefeated during the league's regular season. In Sunday's final she took the first 6-4 and the second 6-2 for the championship.Â
Two other Forester freshmen nearly joined Ahn with singles titles.
Sofia Strupovets was edged out 6-4 in both sets at #1 singles and
Kate Feist came out on the wrong side of a 7-5, 6-4 decision.
Senior
Margaret Bugnacki reached the final but was unable to defend her title at #2 while additional second-place finishes were posted by junior
Sara Lopez at #4 and sophomore
Rebecca Daskal at #6.
The #1 doubles final was also a close call with Strupovets and Bugnacki falling 8-6, Ahn and Lopez were doubled up 8-4 at #2, as were Feist and Daskal at #3. The top tandem's semifinal win was the 100th career victory for Bugnacki, who is now 50-20 in singles and 50-24 in doubles over the last four years.
The MWC Individual Tournament was the final competition of the fall for the Foresters, who will resume the 2023-24 season in March.
