Lake Forest Takes Advantage of Nice Weather at Wheaton

Sophomore Yaneli Guajardo was one of two Forester runners to set program records on Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational.

Guajardo completed the 1500m run in 4:52.52 to break her own mark by more than three seconds. She was seventh in the event and added a sixth-place performance and time of 2:22.83 in the 800m run later in the day.

The Foresters' first school record came early on when senior Jorge Villanueva won the 10,000m run by almost 13 seconds. His time of 31:35.33 was 32 seconds better than the previous mark he set last April.

The team's third and final record was posted by the women's 4x400m relay team of Guajardo and sophomores Ellen Szostak, Dana Midani, and Lea Burshtein. The finished in 4:32.93.

On the men's side junior Philip Wilson was the fastest of five Foresters with a 4:08.78 in the 1500m run and senior David Carrillo 2:04.50 in the 800m run was the best of three on the team.

Senior Emily Staufer also turned in a solid performance in the 5000m run, completing 12-and-a-half laps around the track in 19:45.40.

Lake Forest will continue the outdoor season at the Pioneer Invite at Carroll University next Saturday.
