Aldana Breaks School Record, Villanueva Wins at Red Hawk Invite

Senior Christian Aldana broke a program record for the second week in a row as the Foresters competed in Ripon College's Red Hawk Invite on Saturday.

Aldana's time of 4:25.05 in the mile was more than two seconds faster than the previous mark, which he posted a little more than a year ago. Aldana placed fifth out of 34 runners in the event on Saturday, 15 days after setting a school record in the indoor 3000 meter run.

While Forester senior Jorge Villanueva was unable to match Aldana's record in the 3000, he did win the event on Saturday with a career-best time of 8:53.87. Villanueva finished nearly eight seconds ahead of the runner-up for his first victory of the season. Junior Philip Wilson was fifth in the same race in 9:06.85.

The top placing for the Lake Forest women at the meet was turned in by senior Emily Staufer, who was third in the 3000 meter run. Her time of 11:10.23 was less than a second-and-a-half off the school record she set last season.

Sophomore Yaneli Guajardo also earned points for the Foresters with a sixth-place finish and time of 5:25.54 in the mile.

Lake Forest will continue the second indoor season in school history at the UW-Platteville Invitational next Saturday. The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m.
