Lake Forest Defeats Ripon 7-2

Fueled by strong play in all three of its doubles matches, the Lake Forest women's tennis team defeated Ripon by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. The Foresters won all of three of their doubles matches and four of six singles matches in the victory.

Sophomore Aimee Fadden (pictured) won at #1 singles 6-1, 6-3 and teamed with senior Nonie Carson in first doubles for an 8-1 victory. Carson also won at #3 singles in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-0 over Ripon's Katie Majerowski. She was the only Forester to win in straight sets in singles play. 

Also claiming victories in doubles were the #2 doubles team of Lucy Cooper and Nikki Yeomans who won by a score of 8-5 and Gracie Mullins and Kaitlyn Martin who won at #3 doubles.

The Foresters (4-9) host Knox College on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. at the Tennis Courts which are located behind the Sports and Recreation Center. It is Senior Day for Carson and Lake Forest must win the match in order to secure a spot in the upcoming four-team Midwest Conference Tournament.

"It's all about how we play in doubles...our doubles drives us," coach Mike Raymond said. "That's what we are going to have to do on Saturday, we are going to have to play well at doubles."
