Box Score The Lake Forest College women's tennis team recorded its second
consecutive 9-0 victory on Saturday (September 5). The Foresters
blanked Ripon and are now 2-1 on the season. The loss was the
second in as many matches for the Red Hawks this year.
The home team claimed all three doubles matches by the same 8-4
score. Freshman Melika Celebic (Visoko, Bosnia Herzegovina/United
World College) and sophomore Nonie Carson (Littleton,
Colo./Littleton) defeated Ripon's top tandem, senior Molly Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park) and junior
Natalie Atroshenko (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) prevailed at #2,
and junior Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) won with
sophomore Sara Bennett (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North) at
#3.
Celebic also played at the top spot in the singles lineup, where
she posted a 6-3, 6-0 triumph. Carson won 6-1, 6-2 at #2 and
Stapleton triumphed by the same scores in reverse order at #3.
Sophomore Allison Hamel (Bend, Ore./Bend) recorded a 6-3, 6-4
victory at #4, Stroner won 6-1 in both sets at #5, and Bennett
prevailed 6-0, 6-1 at #6.
Lake Forest will play two more home matches next weekend (September
11-12). The Foresters will host Lawrence University Friday at 4:00
p.m. and Mount Mary College at 10:00 the next morning.
