Box Score The Forester women's tennis team won its 2009 home opener
Thursday (September 3), a 9-0 triumph over visiting Benedictine
University. Lake Forest is now 1-1 on the year. It was the Eagles'
first match of the season.
The closest doubles match was at #1 where freshman Melika
Celebic (Visoko, Bosnia Herzegovina/United World College) and
sophomore Nonie Carson
(Littleton, Colo./Littleton) won 8-5. Senior Molly
Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park) and junior
Natalie
Atroshenko (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) combined for an 8-3
victory at #2 and junior Lauren
Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) teamed with sophomore Sara
Bennett (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North) to prevail 8-1 at
#3.
Celebic posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #1 singles and Stapleton won
by the same score at #3. Carson triumphed 7-5, 6-1 at #2 in the
closest singles match of the contest. Sophomore Allison Hamel
(Bend, Ore./Bend) won both sets 6-1 at #4, Stroner prevailed 6-1,
6-0 at #5, and Atroshenko did not lose a game in her match at
#6.
Lake Forest will host Ripon College Saturday morning (September 5)
at 10:30.
