Foresters Fall in Four at Park University Gilbert

The Lake Forest College women's volleyball team was defeated 25-13, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20 at Park University Gilbert on Saturday.

Lake Forest was led in kills by freshman outside hitter Elise Kelley, who had 11 on Saturday and a team-high 21 during the two-match trip to Arizona. Classmate Chloe Kussow was next on the squad with nine, followed by middle blocker Rio Dirksen with seven. Setter Lilly Robinson tallied 35 assists and was one of four Foresters with a pair of aces.

Alisa Kevric, the team's libero, racked up a career-high 29 digs while L'Rae White also reached double figures with 13. Kussow and Sadie Frye also contributed on defense with four blocks apiece while Dirksen added three.

Lake Forest led the opening set 5-4 before a 12-1 run gave the home team a comfortable lead it maintained the rest of the way. The Foresters were ahead by as many as five in the second set and had a 23-20 advantage late before the Buccaneers took six of the next seven points to close it out.

The visitors' lead in set three was eight at 17-9 but Park Gilbert began to come back again. The margin shrunk to a single point at 18-17 and again at 21-20 but a kill and an ace from Kelley accounted for the final two points and brought the Foresters to within a set.

The Buccaneers won the first 10 points of set four. Lake Forest pulled to within four on four different occasions and eventually cut the deficit to just three at 23-20 before back-to-back points for the home team finished off the match.

The Foresters will return to Lake Forest with an 0-2 record and will travel to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for next weekend's Falcon Invite, which will begin with a match against the hosts Friday night at 7:00.
