Five members of the Lake Forest College women's tennis team were in Kalamazoo, Michigan, over the weekend for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament.

Sofia Strupovets and Lilli Dockal, the team's top two players, advanced well into the tournament. In doubles they had an opening round bye before edging out a team from DePauw University 8-7 (7-2) in the round of 32. They were then doubled up 8-4 by a tandem from the University of Chicago in the round of 16.

Strupovets posted a pair of victories after another first-round bye in singles. The senior rolled 6-4, 6-0 in the round of 64 and then dropped the first set 6-4 against a top-16 seed in the round of 32. She took the second set 6-1 and the third set super tiebreaker 10-2 to advance to the round of 16 for the second time in her career. Unfortunately the run ended there with a loss to the tournament's #2 seed.

Dockal also had an opening round bye in singles. She dropped the first set in the round of 64 6-2 but won the second by the same score. A 10-6 triumph in the third set super tiebreaker sent her to the round of 32 for the third time in as many years as a Forester. She was eliminated there by the #8 seed.

Lake Forest's Anya Mookencherry and Bebe Phramthong teamed up for an 8-4 victory in the opening round doubles before being edged out 8-6 in the round of 32.

Phramthong and Avelynn Wen advanced to the second round in singles and, after falling in her first match, Mookencherry made it to the round of 16 in the consolation bracket.

The Foresters will resume dual match play with four more Midwest Conference contests this fall, beginning in two weeks at Ripon College.
