The Lake Forest women's soccer team dominated possession and chances against Concordia, but it took two second-half goals for the Foresters to move to 4-0 on the season.
In the first moments of the game, the Foresters found themselves on the front foot.
Maggie Balas had a shot in the first minute, and
Sophia Key found space on a corner kick two minutes later but sent her volley high. The teams traded offensive chances for most of the first half, but Lake Forest held on to midfield possession to control the pace of play.
The Foresters ended the first half with 67% possession, the highest first-half number of the season. However, it was a 34th minute save by
Sara Swenson that stole the show. After a breakaway opportunity for the Cougars, the freshman goalkeeper came off her line early and dove at the ball, halting the attack.
Veronica Presberg took a shot in the final minutes of the half, but the Concordia netminder made a stop to send the game to halftime tied at 0.Â
With several missed opportunities in the first half, the Foresters changed their tune at halftime. In the 48th minute, a Balas corner led to captain
Gianna Logue connecting with a strong header that opened the scoring. Logue, who claimed MWC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, found a goal for the first time since a match on August 30, 2025, against Webster University.Â
Twenty minutes later, amid a spell of Lake Forest possession, Balas ran down the left flank and fired a shot that deflected off the Cougar back line and into the net. As the Cougars pushed forward,
Maddie Geasey controlled the defense and the Foresters kept a third consecutive clean sheet with a final score of 2-0.Â
Lake Forest plays at home on Saturday, hosting St. Norbert College at Farwell Field. Kickoff against the Green Knights is set for 1 p.m.
