Box Score The Lake Forest men's soccer team came up short against Elmhurst 2-0 in its season opener.

The Foresters maintained control for a majority of the first half, firing a barrage of shots at the Elmhurst netminder. Lake Forest also played the set-piece game in the first 15 minutes, turning to defender Sam Satisky for long throws to create chaos in the penalty area.

Even with the pressure from the Foresters, Elmhurst cleared its lines and put pressure back on the visitors, firing a shot at the frame that Satisky cleared off the goal line to keep the game scoreless at the half. Lake Forest outshot the home team 7-3 in the first 45 minutes.

The second half turned on its head as the Blue Jays came out firing, and a 49th-minute cross into the box ticked off the arm of Ollie Francis, leading to a penalty kick that Elmhurst converted for a 1-0 lead.

The Foresters fought to earn momentum back in the second half, but shots from Jimmy Cirbo and Nathan Kostovetsky missed the frame. Then, as the visitors pushed numbers to the attack in search of an equalizer, the Blue Jays found a counter and lifted in a cross that looped over the outstretched arm of Kyle Demmon.

Lake Forest men's soccer heads to the West Coast for the weekend, taking on University of Puget Sound on Friday and Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday. The Foresters return home next Wednesday to host Benedictine at Mohr Field for the squad's home opener.
