Box Score The Lake Forest College women's tennis team was defeated 5-2 at Wheaton College on Saturday in the first match of the year for both programs.

The match began with the Thunder taking the doubles point with triumphs at #2 and #3. A 6-4 victory for Forester senior Sofia Strupovets and junior Lilli Dockal at the top spot in the lineup prevented the sweep.

After the home team increased its lead to 3-0 with points at #1 and #4 singles, the visitors closed to within one when sophomore Anya Mookencherry finished off a 7-5, 6-1 win at #3 and Dockal came out on top 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 at #2. Wheaton, however, clinched the match with a win at #6 and added another at #5.

Saturday's contest was the only non-conference match of the fall for the Foresters, who will begin Midwest Conference play against visiting Cornell College on Saturday, September 12.
