College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams on Tuesday and four Foresters made the list.
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at their current institution and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. They also need to be in the lineup for 75 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
Among the players on the list were Forester senior
George Ciuca, juniors
Bernardo Aguiar and
Rodrigo Cunha, and sophomore
Joao Espindola.
Ciuca is now a three-time Academic All-District® honoree. The economics and data science major tied for the team lead this season with 18 singles wins and 37 victories in singles and doubles combined. He was the runner-up at #3 singles and #2 doubles at the MWC Individual Tournament and was named All-MWC in singles. His 135 career victories are the program's second-highest total and he ranks third in team history with 70 singles wins and fourth with 65 triumphs in doubles.
Aguiar was an All-MWC selection in singles and doubles this spring, marking the third time in as many season he has been recognized as one of the best in the league in both formats. He reached the semifinals at #2 singles and was the #2 doubles runner-up with Ciuca at the MWC Individual Tournament. After posting a 31-22 overall record this season, Aguiar is now 92-64 in his career. He is also a double major in economics and data science.
Ciuca and Aguiar have been doubles partners over the last three seasons and their 49 victories are the second-most for a doubles team in school history.
Cunha transferred to Lake Forest in 2025 and is majoring in economics with a finance concentration. Playing primarily at #1 doubles and #4 singles, he posted a an overall record of 36-18 and advanced to the final at both positions during the MWC Individual Tournament. He was part of a doubles team that tied the single-season program record with 17 victories at the top spot in the lineup and was named All-MWC in doubles at the end of the season.
With an 18-5 record, Espindola posted the highest singles winning percentage on the team in 2025-26. He was also 12-7 in doubles and is now 43-23 overall in his two-year career. The computer science major's 7-6 (8-6) victory at #3 secured the doubles point against Grinnell College in the MWC Tournament final and his 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) triumph at #5 singles clinched the Foresters' 4-3 win and sent them to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 3.
