Foresters Still Second at SLIAC Championships after Shortened Day Two

4/27/2026 2:19:00 PM

Monday's second round was not yet finished when weather halted play at the 2026 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament and the Foresters will enter the third and final day of the event just two shots out of first place.

The league switched to a shotgun start to complete as much of round two as possible and everyone in the field played between 13 and 15 holes.

Three Lake Forest players were just 1-over after 13 holes when play stopped. Senior Ben Shamberg carded a pair of birdies on Monday and is now tied-for-12th overall at 5-over for the tournament. Junior Tyler Schick is the team's top player at this point and is tied-for-second in the field at 1-under while classmate Tyler Wengronowitz is 1-over and tied-for-sixth.

Forester freshman Jack Lee is +5 in round two with five holes to play and sophomore Nate Choi is +8 with six left. At 9- over and 10-over for the tournament, respectively, they are in the top half of the 64-player field.

As a team Lake Forest is a dozen shots over par, two worse than Grinnell College but two better than third place Mississippi University for Women.

Round two will be completed Tuesday morning before another shotgun start begins the tournament's third and final trip around Far Oaks Country Club in Caseyville, Illinois.
