Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Foresters Rout Beloit in Weather-Shortened Game

Despite playing just three quarters due to severe weather, the Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team reached the 20-goal mark for the third time this season on Thursday, posting a 20-1 victory at Beloit College.

The Foresters accounted for the game's first seven scores and led 11-1 by the end of the opening period. Senior Emma Sharp had three goals and a pair of assists in the period and added one more of each by the end of the contest. Sharp is now tied with 2024 graduate Ali Graham for second place in program history with 119 career goals.

Fellow senior Daulath Khan and freshmen Madison DeGeorge and Audrey Kroeger each scored twice in the opening period and Khan added four tallies in the third for a career-high six on the day. She is the third Forester with a six-goal performance this season.

DeGeorge completed her hat trick in the second quarter, which ended with the visitors leading 14-1. Junior Ella Maher also scored a goal in the period and then added two more in the third.

The game was paused due to weather in the middle of the third quarter. The teams later resumed play and completed the quarter to make the contest official.

Lake Forest out-shot the Buccaneers 32-12, doubled then up in ground balls 16-8, and secured 12 of the game's 21 draw controls. Senior Shannon Gibbons led all players in the game with five ground balls and six draw controls.

Forester freshman Rio Dirksen earned the victory in her first career start in goal. She stopped seven of Beloit's eight shots on goal.

Lake Forest is now 5-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play. Beloit fell to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the league.

After games on Wednesday and Thursday, the Foresters will be in action again on Saturday when they host Lawrence University at noon.
