With a round of 283 on Sunday and a score of 289 on Monday, the Lake Forest College men's golf team placed third at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Morningstar with the second-lowest two-round total in program history.

The Foresters' opening round was their best of the year and matched the fourth-lowest 18-hole score in school history while Monday's total ranks tied-for-seventh in team annals. At 572 (-4) for the tournament, Lake Forest was just two strokes behind a pair of nationally-ranked teams in #30 University of Dubuque and #11 Aurora University, who tied for first place.

Freshman Jack Lee posted the Foresters' top score on day one with his second 69 of the season. The round was highlighted by an eagle on the 522-yard par-5 12th hole and he birdied four other holes, including two of the other three par-5s. Lee carded an even-par 72 on Monday and his final score of 141 was good for sixth at the event and tied-for-fifth in team history.

Lake Forest junior Tyler Wengronowitz finished two shots ahead of Lee and tied-for-second overall. None of the other 68 players in the event had a better score on Monday than his 4-under 68 and his 139 for the tournament is the program's third-lowest two-round total, giving him four of the top seven entries on that list. Wengronowitz was one shot over par after eight holes on Sunday before recording six birdies without a bogey over his final 28 holes.

Joining Wengronowitz and Lee with under-par scores for the tournament was sophomore Nate Choi with a 143 (-1), which tied him for eighth place overall. Choi had five birdies and three bogeys during his opening round 70 (-1) before posting par on 15 of 18 holes and closing with a birdie for a 73 (+1) on Monday.

The Foresters' fourth scorer on Sunday was junior Tyler Schick with a 1-over 73 and contributing to the team score on Monday was sophomore Tyler Poker at 76 (+4).

Three additional Lake Forest players competed as individuals, including senior Ben Shamberg, who was the only player in the field with two eagles at the event. They came on consecutive par-5s on Sunday when he needed a total of just six strokes to complete both the 516-yard 18th and 542-yard first after starting his round on 17.

The Foresters' performance at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin, lowered their season scoring average nearly two strokes to 299.53.

The Forester Spring Invite is next on the team's schedule and will be take place Friday and Saturday on the Prairie Course at Countryside Golf Club in nearby Mundelein, Illinois.
