The Forester women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to the University of California, Santa Cruz on Sunday at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
Lake Forest's point came from junior
Sofia Strupovets at the top of the singles lineup. She defeated the Banana Slugs' #1 player 6-3, 6-1 but the visitors prevailed in the other three singles matches that were completed. Contests at #5 and #6 singles were unfinished when the match ended.
Santa Cruz swept the doubles competition, although it was by a narrow margin. Strupovets and sophomore
Lilli Dockal were edged out 7-6 (7-5) at #1 while freshman
Anya Mookencherry and sophomore
Avelynn Wen fell 7-5 at #2.
The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record this season to 14-4 while Santa Cruz improved to 4-8.
Lake Forest will travel to North Park University on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. match.
