The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team was defeated 14-3 in a non-conference game at Carthage College Wednesday night.

The Firebirds scored five times in the opening period and twice in the second before Forester senior Emma Sharp assisted on freshman Audrey Kroeger's ended ninth goal of the season with just 11 seconds to play before halftime.

Fore more Carthage scores in the third were followed by Sharp's team-high 19th of the year with less than two minutes to play in the quarter. That score was set up by freshman Gracia Muñoz, who accounted for the team's only goal of the fourth and now has seven this spring.

Senior goalie Cecilia Adams made 13 saves on the night and is now just 20 away from 400 in her career. She and fellow senior Shannon Gibbons shared team-high honors Wednesday night with three ground balls and three caused turnovers apiece while freshman Madison DeGeorge paced the squad with four draw controls.

Lake Forest fell to 4-4 on the season while Carthage improved to 9-1.

The Foresters will resume Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play at Beloit College Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
