The Forester women's lacrosse team was defeated 13-6 in a non-conference game at Carroll University Monday night.
Freshman
Gracia Muñoz and senior
Emma Sharp each had three points in the game with Muñoz scoring twice and adding an assist and Sharpe finishing with one goal and a pair of assists. Lake Forest's other three tallies came from junior
Ella Maher in the second quarter, sophomore
Avery Srnka in the third, and freshman
Madison DeGeorge in the fourth.
Carroll netted the game's first goal nearly seven minutes into the contest and then struck four more times in the final four minutes of the period.Â
Maher started the scoring in the second and the first of the game for Muñoz came later in the quarter. Unfortunately for the visitors, both goals were followed by two for the Pioneers, who led 9-2 at halftime.
Both teams scored twice in each of the final two quarters with Srnka and Muñoz hitting the net in the third period and DeGeorge and Sharp in the fourth.
The teams combined for 13 cards with the Pioneers going 6-for-9 with a Forester serving a penalty and Lake Forest converting on two of their four opportunities.
Forester junior
Eva Russell tied for team high honors with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior
Claire Aimone matched her in the former category and classmate
Shannon Gibbons in the latter. Maher led the squad with four draw controls while Carroll had a 14-7 advantage in that area as a team.
The loss dropped Lake Forest's record this season to 2-3 while Carroll improved to 9-0.
The Foresters will begin Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play against Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday. The game will start at 4:00 p.m. on Mohr Field.
