The Lake Forest College men's tennis team traveled to Hope College on Friday and returned home with a 7-0 victory.
The shortest of the three doubles matched was at #2, where junior
Bernardo Aguiar and senior
George Ciuca tripled up their opponents 6-2. A 6-4 victory for junior
Joao Espindola and freshman
Tim Pasea at #3 secured the doubles point and the Foresters' top tandem of sophomore
Felipe Moraes and junior
Rodrigo Cunha extended their winning streak to five with a 7-5 triumph.
Ciuca's 6-2, 6-3 victory at #3 singles gave his team a 2-0 lead and moved him into a tie for fourth place in program history with 115 wins in singles and doubles combined. Moraes defeated the Flying Dutchmen's top player 6-2, 6-3 and the match was clinched when Agiuar finally finished off his opponent 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-4 at #2. Freshman
Zeke Bisharat quickly disposed of Hope's #5 player 6-4, 6-2 and Cunha took both sets 6-4 at #4. Espindola came out on top 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) at #6 to extend his singles winning streak to five and complete the sweep.
Lake Forest improved to 7-5 on the season while Hope fell to 5-5.
The Foresters will host Wheaton College next Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
