The Lake Forest College men's tennis team posted its fourth consecutive victory on Saturday, sweeping visiting Wheaton College 7-0 at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
The Foresters earned the double point with somewhat narrow victories at all three positions. Sophomore
Felipe Moraes and junior
Rodrigo Cunha edged out the Thunder's top tandem 7-5 for their sixth consecutive victory as a team. At #2, junior
Bernardo Aguiar and senior
George Ciuca doubled up their counterparts 6-3 for their 40th win together over the last three seasons. After trailing 3-0 early on, sophomore
Joao Espindola and freshman
Tim Pasea came back and prevailed 6-4 at #3.
Aguiar quickly took both sets 6-2 at #2 and Ciuca rolled 6-1, 6-4 at #3. The clinching point came from a 6-4, 6-2 triumph by Moraes at #1 and Rodrigo came out on top 7-5, 0-6, (10-1) at #4. In the final two matches out on the courts, Espindola won 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and freshman
Zeke Bisharat 6-2, 6-3 at #6.
After four consecutive victories, Lake Forest is 8-5 on the year. Wheaton fell to 2-6.
The Foresters will host the University of California, Santa Cruz, on campus tomorrow at noon.
