Foresters Announce Updated Branding

Lake Forest College Athletics announced a new brand kit on Wednesday featuring an updated paw print and additional marks.

Rooted in tradition and built for what's next, Lake Forest College Athletics has introduced a new brand identity designed to carry the Forester legacy forward. The updated marks serve as a visual symbol of the Athletic Department's history, pride, and competitive spirit.

The College's Athletic Department and Office of Communications and Marketing partnered with Skye Design, a full-service design agency specializing in sport branding. Extensive research was conducted, including a visit to campus by founder Skye Dillon, and a brand was developed that appropriately represents past, current, and future Foresters. The result is an updated primary logo, multiple secondary marks with a consistent look and feel, and a new font.

"The partnership with Athletics and Skye Design allowed us to create a brand that feels authentic to Lake Forest College Athletics," stated Director of Marketing Stephanie Pfenning. "This rollout is a great example of what is possible when we work together with intention and shared vision. We are proud of what we have created and even more excited to see the campus community carry it forward."

The official logo unveiled on Wednesday is an updated black paw print with sharper claw marks and red accents. Secondary marks are a black bear with red accents, including a strong but subtle use of the letters "LFC," and an image with the letters "LFC" in black with red accents. The primary and secondary marks also feature a white outline for use on darker backgrounds.

In addition to the logos, the brand includes a condensed Ridgeline font to be used on uniforms and words adjacent to the new marks. Guidelines have also been created for the copy used in conjunction with the new marks, including sport-specific options.

"Forester Athletics has always been built on pride, toughness, and a commitment to something bigger than ourselves," began Assistant Vice President for Athletics Jim Catanzaro. "Our new brand reflects that same spirit—it honors the generations of athletes who built this tradition while challenging today's Foresters to carry it forward with energy, passion, and purpose. When our student-athletes put on this logo, they're representing a legacy that stretches far beyond their years on campus.

"One of the things that makes this brand especially meaningful is the incorporation of 'LFC.' We heard from many alumni and current student-athletes who wanted to see that identity represented. It's a simple mark, but it carries tremendous pride and connection to the generations who have competed here before them.

"I'm also incredibly grateful for the collaboration across campus that helped bring this vision to life. The partnership with the Office of Communication and Marketing and the creativity and expertise of Skye Designs allowed us to build a brand that truly reflects the heart, history, and future of Forester athletics."

Lake Forest CollegeBeginning in the mid-1990s, the College's official athletics logo had been a black paw print with the word "Foresters' in front of it with red lettering and a white and black outline. The words "Lake Forest College" were added a decade later. An updated paw print with fur accents and outline and a bear head have been utilized as secondary and tertiary marks in recent years.
