The Forester men's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by visiting North Central at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff on Sunday.
Lake Forest sophomore
Felipe Moraes contributed to both of the home team's points, beginning with his 6-4 victory with classmate
Joao Espindola at #1 doubles. They clinched the doubles point after juniors
Bernardo Aguiar and
Rodrigo Cunha had prevailed by the same score at #2.
The Cardinals responded with wins at #2, #3, and #4 singles and needed just one more triumph to secure the match. Moraes delayed that clincher with a 7-6 (7-4), 0-6, (10-8) victory atop the singles lineup but the visitors came out on top at #5 and #6.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 2-1 while North Central evened its record at 1-1.
Lake Forest will travel to Oberlin, Ohio, next Saturday to take on Case Western Reserve University at 9:00 a.m. (ET) and host Oberlin College at 1:30 (ET) in the afternoon.
