The Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a 9-2 decision Friday night at St. Norbert College, the fifth-ranked team in this week's USCHO.com Poll.
The home team took the early lead less than seven minutes into the game and then rattled off three more goals in the final four minutes of the first period.
After the margin grew to five in the opening minute of the second, the Foresters got on the scoreboard at the 3:43 mark on sophomore forward
Trevor Faucher's third score of the season. A Green Knight turnover in the neutral zone led to a breakaway opportunity for Faucher, who moved to his right before back-handing a shot past the goalie.
St. Norbert, however, scored back-to-back goals later in the period to make it a 7-1 game. Lake Forest's other goal was the first in the collegiate career of freshman forward
Connor Miller, whose shot through traffic hit the back of the net with 1:24 to play in the second.
Two more Green Knight tallies in the third closed out the scoring.
The Fofresters were out-shot 65-21 on the night and fell to 5-15-2 overall and 5-9-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this season. St. Norbert improved to 14-6-2 overall and 10-3-2 in the league.
The teams will face off again at St. Norbert Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
