Saturday was the second and final day of the 2026 Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Meet at Grinnell College and the Foresters' performance was highlighted by a victory by
Ollie Francis in the men's 800m.
Francis was in fifth place at the 400m mark but climbed into second by the completion of lap three. The junior did not take the lead until late in the final turn and sprinted to the finish, raising his arms in celebration as he crossed the line. Francis posted a time of 1:56.77 to win by a little more than half a second and defend the 800m title he won at the league's outdoor championship meet last May.
The victory for Francis was the second All-MWC performance for the Foresters on the day. The first came from freshman
Christopher Yoon, who placed third in the men's 60m hurdle finals. He posted a time of 8.63 seconds while sophomore
Payton Ross was sixth in 8.70. Lake Forest also had a finalist in the women's race in senior
Jacquelyn Han. The only women's hurdler in team history, Han turned in a career-best time of 10.30 seconds in Friday's trials before improving on that with a clocking of 10.23 seconds to finish sixth in Saturday's final.
Junior
Lettia Hoda also broke her own school record on Saturday. She finished sixth in the 3000m in 10:26.01, nearly four seconds faster than the previous indoor mark she posted two weekends ago.
Another team record was set in the men's 4x400m relay. Francis led off and was followed by sophomore
Alex Pavlov, freshman
Jace Rackleff, and sophomore LIam Foo. Their time of 3:32.37 was good for sixth place in the race and is now the program's best indoor mark. The Forester women were also sixth in the meet's final event with sophomores
Farah Tawfik and
Andrea Fernandez, Han, and senior
One Kenosi finishing in 4:28.12.
With 37 points and a seventh-place team finish, the Forester men had their best showing at an indoor conference meet. The women finished eighth with 17 points. Grinnell, meanwhile, won both the men's and women's team titles.
Lake Forest's outdoor season will begin with North Central College's First Chance Invitational on March 28.
