2/26/2026 10:00:00 AM

The Midwest Conference announced its end-of-season awards for men's basketball Thursday morning and Lake Forest College's Alex Forowycz and Cristian Rodriguez were two of the league's six First Team All-MWC selections.

Forowycz and Rodriguez are the top two scorers in the conference this season at 20.6 and 20.3 points per game, respectively. The seniors are also two of the most efficient offensive players in the conference with Rodriguez shooting a league-best 60.1 percent from the field and Forowycz leading the MWC and ranking sixth in the nation in free throw percentage at 90.9 percent. Rodriguez, who shoots 76.4 percent from the line himself, also ranks second in the conference in rebounding at 9.1 per game, tied-for-seventh in blocked shots with 21, and tied-for-13th in assists with 2.4 per contest. Forowycz shoots 40.8 percent from three-point range and is tied-for-fourth in the league with 2.6 three-pointers made per game and eighth in assists with 2.7 per contest.

Forowycz reached double figures in points in all but one of the Foresters' 25 games so far this season and finished with at least 30 three times. The guard surpassed 1,000 career points on November 22 and currently ranks eighth in program history with 1,425 points and tied-for-second with 218 three-pointers. He was a Second Team All-MWC selection a season ago.

Rodriguez, a forward, scored at least a dozen points in every game and posted nine double-doubles this season. He surpassed 1,000 points as a collegiate player on January 13 and, after two seasons playing at at Schreiner University and two at Lake Forest, he has 1,231 career points and 635 rebounds. His 16.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game over the last two years rank among the top eight career marks in team history.

The last time two Foresters were named first team all-conference was when Karl Maass and Daryl Gray earned that status in the East Division of the league 49 years ago.

Lake Forest finished the 2025-26 regular season with an overall record of 16-9 and the team's 11-5 mark in league play is the program's best since 2017-18.
