Finn Gruver, a member of the Lake Forest College track and field team, was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday.
Gruver won the long jump with a school record leap of 6.90m (22' 7.75") at the University of Chicago's Margaret Bradley Invitational on Saturday. The sophomore was the top performer out of 14 competitors in the event's prelims with a distance of 6.82m on his first attempt. He improved slightly to 6.87m on his first jump of the finals and covered three more centimeters on his next attempt before fouling on the last.
In addition to his performance in the long jump, Gruver finished ninth in the prelims of the 60m in 7.13 seconds and 14th in the 200m in 23.95 . Those times rank him second and fifth in program history, respectively, in those two events.
Gruver heads into this weekend's MWC Indoor Championship Meet ranked third in the league and tied-for-72nd in the nation so far this season.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Gruver is the first Forester to earn one of the league's weekly awards in track and field in 2025-26.
