More than 100 guests gathered at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse on Saturday, February 7, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Lake Forest College women's hockey program.
The milestone honored a quarter-century of Forester women taking to the ice, from the early days of the program to its record-breaking teams. More than 40 alumni returned for the event, including members of the conference championship-winning teams from 2013-14 and 2014-15 and players who hold the top individual records in program history. Many alumni had also been part of the program's most historic teams, including those who helped bring home the Slaats Cup, advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and earned All-American and All-NCHA honors.
The celebration kicked off with a reception, where alumni and guests gathered to enjoy food, refreshments, and lively conversation, sharing stories and memories from their time on and off the ice. The energy carried into the annual alumni scrimmage, where returning players laced up their skates for a full-ice game that showcased their skill, teamwork, and enduring Forester spirit. With so many former players back on the ice, the scrimmage was both competitive and nostalgic, giving fans a rare glimpse of the program's history in motion and allowing alumni to reconnect with teammates and relive the thrill of game day.
After the scrimmage, alumni and guests stayed to watch the current Forester team take on St. Norbert in a conference match-up, further connecting the program's history with its present. The day's festivities celebrated not only the achievements on the ice but also the community, leadership, and commitment that have defined women's hockey at Lake Forest College for 25 years.
