Senior forward
Logan Kittleson turned in his first collegiate hat trick to lead the Lake Forest College men's hockey team to a 4-3 victory over visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering in Saturday night's regular season finale.
Kittleson started the scoring at the 2:17 mark of the opening period. He positioned himself just left of the crease and sophomore defenseman
Jonah Copre's pass from above the right circle gave him time to send it in before the goalie could slide over.
The Raiders tied the score at the 8:35 mark but Kittleson struck again with 2:32 to play in the opening period. He was in a similar location and sent in the puck after it escaped a group of players fighting for it in front of the goal.
The score remained 2-1 until Kittleson completed his hat trick with the game's only power play goal at 8:57 in the second. His one-timer off a pass from junior forward
Max Jaldung was from a sharper angle than his first two goals but his shot squeezed in between the goalie and the left post for his seventh score of the season.
Sophomore
Trevor Faucher added to the home team's lead at the 13:59 mark when he was given a little too much space in the right circle and fired a shot into the right side of the net.
Faucher's fourth of the season gave the Foresters a 4-1 lead but that margin quickly shrunk to one with back-to-back Raider scores late in the second period.
The team combined for 18 shots on goal in the final period but the goalies were there to stop all of them and Lake Forest hung on for the one-goal win.
Forester freshman goaltender
Luke Szyszka made 23 saves to earn the victory.
Jaldung was 12-5 and Lake Forest 40-23 on face-offs.
The Foresters finished the regular season 6-17-2 overall and 6-11-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. MSOE, meanwhile, is 10-12-3 overall and 7-8-3 in the league.
Lake Forest will be the #8 seed in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs and will travel to league champion Adrian College for a quarterfinal series next weekend.
