In its first competition since September, the Lake Forest College men's tennis team swept host Illinois Institute of Technology 7-0 in Chicago Saturday night.
While the final score was lopsided, some of the individual matches were not, including a 7-6 (7-1) triumph by sophomore
Felipe Moraes and junior
Rodrigo Cunha at #1 doubles. Junior
Bernardo Aguiar and senior
George Ciuca had already prevailed in more convincing fashion at #2, as had sophomore
Joao Espindola and freshman
Tim Pasea at #3.
Moraes took both sets 6-2 at the top spot in the singles lineup and Espindola followed with a 6-4, 3-6, (10-6) victory at #4. The match-clinching point came from CUnha at #5, where he rolled 6-0, 6-3. Ciuca came out on top 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 at #3 and Aguiar 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, (10-7) at #2. Freshman
Zeke Bisharat finished off the sweep by doubling up his opponent 6-3 in both sets at #6.
Lake Forest improved to 2-0 in the 2025-26 season while Saturday night's dual match was the first for Illinois Tech.
The Foresters will host North Central College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff next Sunday at 12:45 p.m.
