A first half that saw Luther score four goals pushed the Norse to a 4-1 victory over Lake Forest men's soccer.Â
While the two teams battled in the midfield early on, the hosts were on the scoreboard first. A header off of a free kick pushed the score to 1-0 Luther in the 18th minute. The Norse added another in the 26th minute, and a third goal in the 30th. After a foul in the box, Luther converted a penalty kick in the 37th minute, pushing the score to 4-0 in favor of the hosts.Â
In a first half that saw moments of pressure from the Foresters, Lake Forest had two shots on goal from
Lorenzo Rojas and
Marcus Prising.Â
The second half saw early offense for the Foresters, as
Skye Fanch missed wide in the opening three minutes. However, Luther continued to keep Lake Forest away from dangerous offensive opportunities. The next Forester chance came in the 74th minute as
Gustavo Machado saw his shot blocked by the Norse defense.Â
The defense, anchored by
Noah Jesus Rosborough,
Tommy Sasfai, and
Sam Satisky, held Luther without a shot in the second half. It was Satisky who scored for Lake Forest in the 86th minute to put a goal on the board for the Foresters.
Lake Forest returns home on October 6 to host Monmouth. Kickoff at Mohr Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
