Tennis player Sofia Strupovets and soccer player Sam Satisky were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Strupovets helped lead her team to a 5-2 victory at previously undefeated Wheaton College on Wednesday. In doubles her 6-2 win with sophomore Lilly Dockal at #1 secured the first point of the match for the visitors. Strupovets then posted a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over the Thunder's top singles player, who entered the day with a perfect 5-0 record on the year, to clinch the match for Lake Forest.
Wednesday's wins moved Strupovets into 10th place in program history with 93 in her career. The junior is now 48-9 in singles and 45-15 in doubles in her third season at the College.
Satisky helped lead Lake Forest to a pair of shutouts at home last week as the team blanked Carroll University 1-0 on Tuesday and Knox College 2-0 in Saturday's Midwest Conference opener. He played all 90 minutes in both games and the Forester defense limited the two opponents to just five shots on target in the two games combined. Satisky was also active at the offensive end of the field, assisting on Tuesday's goal and netting one of his own to start the scoring on Saturday.
He is now tied-for-second on the team with four goals and 10 points this fall.
Satisky was also a Forester Athlete of the Week on September 9 while the award for Strupovets is her first this season and fourth of her career.
