Box Score The Lake Forest College women's tennis team traveled to Wheaton College on Wednesday and returned with a 5-2 victory.
The Foresters' points came from the top of the lineup. The first doubles match to be completed was at #2, where freshman
Anya Mookencherry and sophomore
Avelynn Wen tripled up their opponents 6-2. Junior
Sofia Strupovets and sophomore
Lilli Dockal won by the same score at #1 to give the visitors the lead going into singles.
The team's top tandem continues rise up the program record books and now rank tied-for-sixth with 27 victories as a doubles team and tied-for-third with 25 triumphs at #1.
Dockal rolled 6-0, 6-2 at #2 singles and Mookencherry followed with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at #3. The match-clinching point came from Strupovets at #1, where she came out on top 6-2, 6-4. The Foresters' final point was the result of a 6-3, 7-5 win by Wen at #4.
The two victories for Strupovets on the day raised her career total to 93, which ranks 10th in team annals. She is also tied-for-10th with 48 win in singles play.
Wednesday's result left both teams at 5-1 on the year.
Lake Forest will be in action again at the University of St. Francis on Thursday, October 2.
