Lake Forest College women's golfer
Gabrielle Krebs was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday for her performance at the Midwest Region Classic over the weekend.
Krebs carded a 73 in Friday's opening round, tying her with two other players for second place in the field of 227 golfers, one shot behind the leader. She also had two birdies and two bogeys in the first nine holes and was atop the leaderboard during Saturday's second round when lightning ended play. Friday's results then became final and the Foresters tied for ninth place out of 39 teams at the tournament.
Friday's round lowered the season scoring average for Krebs to a team-best 78.4, which is slightly better than the program record mark of 79.07 she posted last year. The senior now owns nine of the top 13 rounds in team history.
SLIAC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Krebs has earned the honor six times in her career.
