Four members of the Lake Forest College women's tennis team made the trip to St. Louis, Missouri, this weekend to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Centrl Region Tournament.
Sophomore
Lilli Dockal turned in the Foresters' best performance at the event, reaching the round of 32 in singles and the round of 16 with junior
Sofia Strupovets in doubles. After receiving a bye in the opening round of singles, she prevailed 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 64 before falling in her next match. Dockal and Strupovets also had an opening round bye and blanked their round of 32 opponents 8-0. They were eliminated by a duo from the University of Chicago, the second-ranked team in the nation.
Lake Forest's other doubles team made up of freshman
Anya Mookencherry and sophomore
Avelynn Wen doubles up their opponents 8-4 in the opening round before being edged out in a tiebreaker in the round of 32.
Mookencherry was defeated in the opening round and Strupovets in the round of 64 in singles. Both players won twice in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
The Foresters' next match is a non-conference contest at Wheaton College Wednesday evening at 5:45.
