Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lake Forest Defeats Elmhurst, Extends Season-Opening Winning Streak to Six

The Forester men's soccer team hosted and defeated Elmhurst University 4-1 on Wednesday.

The only goal of the first half was scored before the three-minute mark. Lake Forest junior defender Ollie Francis sent a cross from the left side and a Bluejay defender's attempt to clear it went arwy as the ball caromed off him and into the goal.

The game's other four scores occurred during a 13-minute span early in the second half. Forester senior midfielder Gio Diaz started the run by rolling a shot past the Elmhurst goalkeeper and into the right side of the net at the 57:09 mark. It was the second score of the season for Diaz.

After the visitors cut the deficit in half less that two minutes later, the Foresters answered at 62:47 with junior forward Nathan Kostovetsky's fourth of the year. Junior midfielder Peter Cirbo's free kick from 45 yards out found sophomore defender Sam Satisky in the right side of the box. Satisky headed the ball to Kostovetsky right in front of the keeper and he kicked it around him for the score.

Cirbo accounted for the game's final tally at the 69:54 mark, converting a penalty kick for his team-high fifth goal of 2025.

Lake Forest out-shot the Bluejays 19-4 and had five corner kick opportunities to the visitors' one.

Forester sophomore goalie Kyle Demmon made his team's only save of the game while holding the opponent scoreless during the first half. Freshman Conor Leuschke covered the final 45 minutes and, since the official game-winning goal was scored during that span, he earned his first collegiate victory.

Lake Forest matched the seventh-longest winning streak in program history and is now 6-0-0 for the first time since 2011. Elmhurst fell to 3-4-1.

The Foresters will look to extend the streak against visiting Carroll University next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
