Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Cirbo's Late Stunner Lifts Foresters Past Illinois Tech, 1-0

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team continued its perfect start to the season on Friday evening, earning a gritty 1–0 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology at Mohr Field. With the win, the Foresters improved to 5–0 on the year.

The breakthrough came in the 86th minute when junior midfielder Peter Cirbo delivered a moment of brilliance. Cirbo stepped into space just outside the box and fired a blistering shot that soared into the top right corner, leaving no chance for the Scarlet Hawks' keeper. The spectacular strike marked his fourth goal of the season and proved to be the difference in the tightly contested match.

On the defensive end, the Foresters stood firm. Senior Alexis Flores and senior Christian Karabetsos anchored the back line, limiting Illinois Tech to just nine shots and only two on target. In goal, junior Andrew Swacha and freshman Marceli Okonski split time evenly, each making a save to preserve the shutout.

Lake Forest created more attacking chances as the game wore on, outshooting Illinois Tech 7–5 in the second half, and showed composure through a physical contest that featured several cautions. Cirbo's late strike capped off a disciplined team performance and underscored the Foresters' ability to find answers in critical moments.

With the win, Lake Forest remains unbeaten at 5–0 overall. The Foresters will return to action on Wednesday, September 17, at 4:30 p.m. when they host Elmhurst University at Mohr Field.
