Foresters Sweep MSOE in Only Dual Match of the Fall Semester

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team hosted and defeated Milwukee School of Engineering 7-0 on Thursday.

All three doubles matches were decided by just two games. Forester sophomore Felipe Moraes and junior Rodrigo Cunha prevailed 6-4 at the top spot in the lineup while sophomore Joao Espindola and freshman Tim Pasea won by the same score at #3. Junior Bernardo Aguiar and George Ciuca finished off the sweep with a 7-5 triumph at #2.

The top four players in the teams' singles lineups took the courts next. Aguiar was the first to finish, taking both sets 6-4 against the Raiders' #1 player. Ciuca added a 6-4, 6-0 victory at #3 and the Forester victory was clinched when Moraes completed a 4-6, 6-1, (10-5) comeback at #2. Cunha dropped the first set 7-5 at #4 but won the second by the same score and the ensuing super tiebreaker 10-6.

The last two doubles matches started on campus before darkness forced the second sets to be played at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff. Espindola doubled up his opponent 6-3 in set one and blanked him 6-0 in the second at #5 and freshman Zeke Bisharat posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory at #6 to finish off the shutout.

Thursday's contest was the only dual match of the fall for the Foresters and MSOE fell to 0-2.

Select Lake Forest players will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament in Kalamazoo, Michigan, September 26-28.
