The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday. It was the Foresters' third and final match at the Pacific Coast Classic.
Junior
Simisola Osinaike and freshman
Rio Dirksen led the visitors with eight kills apiece. Dirksen's mark came in just a dozen attempts, giving her a stellar .667 hitting percentage in the contest. Osinaike's kill total was a career high and she also led Lake Forest with three blocks.
Forester senior setter
Lilly Robinson tallied a match-high 26 assists and served up a pair of aces while junior
Meghan Winston and sophomore
Margaret Almonte shared team-high honors in digs with nine.
CMS rattled off five straight points early in the opening set and won six in a row later on to extend its lead. Lake Forest fought off five consecutive set points before the home team finally closed it out.
The Athenas rattled off seven straight point early in set two but the Foresters responded with six in a row to close to within one. The score was close the rest of the way but Lake Forest was unable to pull even.
The Foresters led for the first half of set three but, trailing 14-12, CMS won 13 of the next 19 points to close out the match.
Lake Forest fell to 0-3 while CMS improved to 3-0.
The Foresters will host Carthage College and Aurora University next Saturday.
