The Lake Forest College volleyball team began the 2025 campaign in California at the Pacific Coast Classic on Friday, falling in three sets to Whittier College and in five at Pomona-Pitzer College.
The Foresters dropped their first match of the day 25-17, 25-11, 25-11. Junior
Meghan Winston led the team with seven kills and three blocks. Fellow junior
Simisola Osinaike was next in kills with six and senior
Ireland Van Stone finished with five. Senior
Lilly Robinson recorded a match high 20 assists and Winston chipped in with 10 digs. Freshman
Rio Dirksen served up her first collegiate ace.

In match two of the day, Pomona-Pitzer won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-22 but Lake Forest battled back and took the next two by the same scores in reverse order. Set five was tied at 11 before the home team won three of the next four points and the match.

Four Foresters reached double digits in digs with Winston leading the group with 19, Sophomore
Margaret Almonte had 17, freshman
Alisa Kevric 15, and Van Stone with 14.Â

Winston also had a team-high 12 kills for her first collegiate double-double while Van Stone added 11 for her second. Robinson led the squad with 28 assists, Van Stone with four aces, and Dirksen with six blocks to go with nine kills and three aces on the evening.

The Foresters looks to get their first win of the season tomorrow when they take on host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 12:45 p.m. (PT).
