The Midwest Conference released its 2025 Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll on Wednesday and Lake Forest College was listed sixth.
Voting is done by the MWC head volleyball coaches. Each coach votes for the other eight schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (eight points for first, seven for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.
Cornell College was atop the poll with 64 points and garnered eight of the nine first-place votes. Grinnell College received the other top selection and was second with 55 points. Illinois College (46) and Monmouth College (44) rounded out the top four and the Foresters' 31 trailed fifth-place Lawrence University by seven.
The 2024 Foresters finished sixth in the MWC standings with a 3-5 record in league play. Current junior Meghan Winston ranked among the top four on the team in kills, digs, blocks, and assists a season ago and will serve as one of the team's captains along with senior Lilly Robinson this fall.
Lake Forest's second season with Melanie Hughes as head coach will start with three matches at this weekend's Pacific Coast Classic in Claremont, California. The Foresters will begin MWC play against visiting Grinnell College on October 3 and will close out their conference schedule against Knox College at home on November 8. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the MWC Tournament, which will be hosted by the league's regular season champion November 14-15.
